About the department:
Our Technical Services supports all 4 of our departments delivering postgraduate and undergraduate taught programmes. The Department works closely with industry as well as the local community. The recent work on providing PPE during the pandemic demonstrates the ethos of our Department.
About the role:
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing electronics and software support to staff and students as required for various project activities.
You will work closely with customers in order to identify and understand their requirements, and to deliver innovative solutions to satisfy these. As part of the Instrumentation team, you will work with technical staff and other colleagues across the Faculty to maintain and deliver a high quality support service to the teaching and research efforts of the university’s engineering departments.
About you:
You will enjoy engaging with students and staff of all backgrounds with different levels of electronics and software knowledge in order to support both research and teaching activities. You will also have:
A good understanding of data acquisition and control systems, including associated hardware
A broad general knowledge of electronics hardware and software development
Qualified to GCSE level
Be able to demonstrate competence and experience in programming at a systems level
Previous experience in a higher education or research environment would be an advantage but is not essential
