An exciting opportunity for a Researcher to join an ESRC funded study examining risk of PTSD among children growing up in high adversity communities in South Africa.
About the role:
You will support a longitudinal study of children and adolescents that tracks symptoms of PTSD and other mental health outcomes over 6 months following trauma exposure. The project will identify predictors of child recovery from factors including those internal to the child (e.g., cognitive-behavioural processes) and those operating externally (e.g., parental mental health and responses). This research can ultimately inform the development of interventions to support families following experiences of child trauma.
This role is full time (36.5 hours per week), with an expected duration of approximately 33 months.
About you:
You should have a strong background in clinical or developmental psychology, and should hold, or be about to hold, a PhD in this area. Excellent research and data analysis skills, communication skills and writing ability are essential.
You will be required to work within a team, including by supporting our international partners based at Stellenbosch University, Cape Town, and by working with UK co-investigators at Cambridge, UCL, UEA and Oxford. We would anticipate the successful applicant spending periods of time based in South Africa if safe international travel is possible.
