I have been asked to travel to a customer site once a week for my job, that is in central london. I have mild cerebal palsy and I struggle getting on and off trains, especially the tube without the assitance of another person.
Now this new customer I have been assigned is a problem customer and how well I turn it around wil have a direct impact on wheather I get a promotion later on in the year, however a direct part of this is being on site at the customers location.
I have tried a work around and drive there and booking a car park close, but it is right in the city and the drive was impossible. I live just out side of London with normally only a 4 mile drive to work, but after 4.5 hours of driving to try and there earlier this week I wasnt even close so turned around and came home.
I have now told my boss is it not practical for me to travel to the customer site, but i am happy to continue with it working from my normal office location. Can I be penalised for this in anyway or would the fact that employers have to make resonable adjustments for people with disabilities mean that they should just assign me another customer?
