Specialty Doctor – Medical Cover in Rehabilitation and Old Age Psychiatry
£34,584-£64,632
10 Programmed Activities per week
Applications are invited for the post of Specialty Doctor to provide medical cover in Rehabilitation and Old Age Psychiatry. The post holder will be responsible to Rehabilitation Consultant Dr Ken Godbert. This post will most suit a doctor with broad medical experience such as a General Practitioner. Any suitably experienced/qualified Doctor will be considered. This will be a full-time post but could be split into two part-time posts if applicants were willing to job share. Consideration will be given to candidates who wish to work part time in which case the Job Plan will be reviewed accordingly.
The Post Holder will provide general medical support to inpatient Rehabilitation and Old Age Patients. They will work closely with the nursing staff of Oak House (rehabilitation) and Cantilupe & Mortimer Wards (Stonebow Psychiatric Unit). It is expected that there will be ten Planned Activity (PA) sessions per week. One PA session will be for personal development and Nine PA sessions will be for clinical work. The majority of the post holder’s clinical time will be spent on the wards providing direct medical care to the patients. On average the post holder will be responsible for 10 patients at Oak House and 20 Older People in the Stonebow Unit (14 Organic illness, 6 Functional). The post does not cover the care of other psychiatric inpatients. The post holder will be encouraged to complete post graduate courses/qualification and time within the job plan will be available for this. If necessary the Trust is happy to seek formal educational approval for the post.
