I am new to this site and I hope to ask you advice about helping my autistic son find supported employment in the IP7 area (East Anglia).

Does anyone have contact/information about how we go about finding this help for him?

He is 16 in September but finds that there is no information 'out there' to advise of places (like Remploy) in his area.

Could anyone help?

Your replies are really appreciated.

Hi Wilkies5,

It might be a bit late now but there's a whole list of supported employers at the BASE website: http://base-uk.org/members. There's a whole host of different organisations on there beyond Remploy. Like us in Barnsley:

Does your son not have a school careers adviser, if he has not he should have, perhaps asking the school, he would then be given placements for work through the local youth employment agency which will either be Remploy the Shaw trust or one of the many others who have now been given contracts, but for your son he needs special advisor's who deal with young people.

Your local council will have a list of names, so will your job center, so will your sons school.

I do not know about your area, but around me getting anything to do with work is dam hard work, my grandson who has the same disability is staying on in college for three years.
